In our former roles in the legal and administrative departments of organizations such as consulting firms, banks, and hospital systems, many of our attorneys have functioned as a part of the clients they now represent. This means advice and work product are strongly influenced by first-hand knowledge of what will be useful to a client, and what will not. Many lawyers can obtain a correct answer to a question. Our attorneys stand apart by using their experience as the recipients of good (and poor) legal advice. This experience enables us to provide not only correct answers but also practical solutions.
Unfortunately, we have encountered attorneys and firms who “never met a client they couldn’t help” and “never saw a matter they couldn’t handle.” We categorically reject the notion that any attorney or firm can be all things to all clients. While we assist clients with a wide range of areas, we also understand that some matters are best handled by a firm or attorney with skills or experience we do not possess. When this is the case, our policy is simple: we tell the client and assist with obtaining the best counsel for the job. We have been told this is unwise and represents a voluntary relinquishment of opportunity. We disagree.
